More Irish music in Israel

It was the Murphy's Irish festival in Israel again last week, and we saw 2 groups who came over...

On the Friday night we returned to Hemdat Yamim to hear North Cregg. The music was excellent - but we were very disappointed with the place this time. They packed us in, and the service was lousy. It took over an hour to get a drink, and Carol didn't get her toasted sandwich until half an hour after that.

Also, it seemed that half the crowd had come just to drink and talk - throughout the performance!

We'll be going elsewhere next year.

On Saturday night we went to Raanana and... (more)

Cran

On Thursday night we went up to a place called Hemdat Yamim in the mountains near Zfat (Safed) to hear an Irish group called Cran.

They were great. I talked a bit to Desi in the break and bought one of their CD's.

I only wish more Irish bands/singers would come to Israel.

I'm glad we went to see them there rather than at the Tel Aviv cinemateque - more atmosphere in a small pub-like place with tables and drinks etc.

Pity they didn't have Guinness or even Murphy's.

Employment Update

I am now employed by a large dynamic software company - working on its internal Data Warehouse and reporting systems.

Actually, I've been doing this job for a year already, but until now I was working as a contractor employed by an outsourcing/consultancy company.

The move change (to be more accurate) is definitely for the better...

Happy New Year to all.

Lifeguard

Firstly - an answer to one of the comments on my last entry. NO! I do not like Sharon! I have never liked him, and my lifetime hatred was melded in 1982 in Lebanon.

Besides that, my son has been given a "perk" by the Army (before his demob) - he's doing a swimming lifeguard's course, and, of course, he's moaning about how hard it is!

I had to remind him that, when I did that course, I was nearly 35, working full time in charge of an 8 man accounts department, and I hadn't just completed nearly 3 years of Army (physical) training.

Ahh! The youth of today...

30 years since the Yom Kippur war

I've watched a lot of good programmes in the last couple of weeks about the Yom Kippur war on Israel's main TV channels (1 & 2).

If I'd been born in Israel, that would have been my first war!

Looks like not much changed between then and 1982, the Lebanon war, which I was part of, and now.

Politicians and generals with no idea what's going on. Other generals knowing exactly what's going on and covering it up or denying it! Soldiers dying, getting injured or whatever - to sit on top of the next hill!

It's Dalit's 16th birthday today!
